Safety and security

Your childs safety and security is of upmost importance to our team and we put many processes and measures in place to ensure Care Love Learn provides that for your peace of mind.

At Care Love Learn we give a warm welcome to every child and family on their arrival. Parents are requested to pass the care of their child to a specific member of staff who will ensure his/her safety. The staff member receiving the child immediately records his/her arrival in the daily attendance register. The staff member also records any specific information provided by the parents, including recent experiences and observations from home.

If a child needs to be administered medication, providing the child is not infectious and well enough to be in nursery or school, staff must follow the administering of medication policy and procedure. Where applicable, all medicines should be given back to the parent/carer when the child is collected from us at the end of the day.

Parents / carers will be informed of any accidents or incidents and appropriate records signed by the parent/carer before departure. Where applicable, all medicines should be recovered from the medicine box/fridge after the parent has arrived and handed to him/her personally. The medication policy is to be followed regarding parental signature.

Camera, mobile phone and recording device use

At Care Love Learn we recognise that photographs and video recordings play a part in the life of the nursery and out of school club. We ensure that any photographs or recordings taken of children in our nursery and out of school club are only done with prior written permission from each child’s parent and only share photos with parents in a secure manner.

We ask for individual permissions for photographs and video recordings for a range of purposes including: use in the child’s learning journey; for display purposes; for promotion materials including our website, brochure and the local press; and for security in relation to CCTV and social media.

If a parent is not happy about one or more of these uses, we will respect their wishes and find alternative ways of recording their child’s play or learning. Staff are not permitted to take any photographs or recordings of a child on their own information storage devices e.g. cameras, mobiles or smartwatches and may only use those provided by Care Love Learn.

Parents are not permitted to use any recording device or camera (including those on mobile phones or smartwatches) on our premises without the prior consent of the manager. During special events, e.g. Christmas or leaving parties, staff may produce group photographs to distribute to parents on request.

Sickness and illness

At Care Love Learn we promote the good health of all children attending. To help keep children healthy and minimise infection, we do not expect children to attend nursery or school if they are unwell. If a child is unwell it is in their best interest to be in a home environment with adults they know well rather than at nursery with their peers.

  • If a child becomes ill during the nursery day, we contact their parent(s)/emergency contacts and ask them to pick them up as soon as possible.
  • We follow the guidance given to us by Public Health England on Infection Control and advice from our local health protection unit for specific illnesses e.g. sickness and diarrhoea, measles and chicken pox etc
  • Should a child have an infectious disease, such as sickness and diarrhoea, they must not return to nursery or out of school club until they have been clear for at least 48 hours.
  • We have the right to refuse admission to a child who is unwell. This decision will be taken by the manager on duty and is non-negotiable.
